So I’m going to start this blog by bringing up a topic that
is very important to me right now. It should also be important to all of you.
Being yourself. I know this has been shoved down your throats for how many
years by teachers at school and your parents, but it really does mean
something. All of you guys should be able to be yourself without being judged.
In this society though, it is human nature to judge people for being a little
different. It’s not fair, it’s not fun, but it’s what people do. I believe we
can change it though.
Everyone loves gossip, and everyone likes to make judgements
of said gossip. We have grown up in a world where people are judged on the
shape of their bodies, the style of their clothes, and the things they do. I
don’t like it. I wish we lived in a world where everyone could do and say what
they please and not be judged for it. I feel that with some work and kindness,
maybe we can achieve that. We can’t stop people from judging others, that’s a
given, but we can stop them from speaking about it. It would be so much better
if we could just be nice. You don’t like her dress because it’s not your taste?
That’s fine, but don’t bring her down by telling her it’s ugly. You don’t like
his haircut? Don’t tease him that it looks stupid.
What I am trying to say here is we need to stop bullying.
This has been a topic for years and there are so many people out there who are
trying to stop it. I don’t know if I have the power to change the world, but I
do hope I have the power to change one person’s day. We are all beautiful human
beings and we deserved to be treated as such. I will revert back to one of
those old clichés that moms everywhere repeat to their kids like a mantra “If
you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” I know that
sounds like a bunch of nonsense but it truly is a great saying to live by. This
society and generation needs to simply learn how to be nice. We are too busy
judging someone’s clothes to actually look at the person inside them. Yes
judging is easier and faster, but it’s hurtful and think about the great person
you miss out on just by saying one mean comment and moving on.
