New Year, New Me

It is now 2016 and everybody is thinking of a new year’s resolution. Something they want to change for the better in the New Year. Some people decide to work out more and become healthier; others want to make more money. A lot of high school students decide to work harder and get their grades up. Whatever they choose, they just want to become a better person in the New Year.
Some people believe the New Year is a reset button on their life and they can act like nothing bad ever happened. I understand that there are a lot of things you just want to forget about from your past, trust me, I have a lot. But I feel that everything happens for a reason, you shouldn’t just forget about it. Whatever happened taught you something didn’t it? It may not be a happy lesson but it made you better. Don’t just throw away a lesson you need.
Other people say they are going to change this year, but they never do. They promise they will go to the gym every day and they do for a while, but soon they start skipping days, and then quit altogether. No one ever keeps their promise. They may keep it for a few weeks but soon people become busy or lazy and just forget about it. I have a friend who can’t even remember what her resolution from last year was. Resolutions are never honored for very long.
I feel like we would all benefit if we actually stuck to our resolutions. We could all change ourselves for the better. We don’t have to make absolutely crazy resolutions like completely giving up junk food. We can make it a little easier by only having junk food every once in a while, so it’s not as hard to keep.
So all in all, we should learn to keep our resolutions even if they seem hard. There’s always a way we can improve ourselves.
